Noda, S.J. (2000).The concept of Holism in Individual Psychology and Buddhism. Journal of Individual Psychology, 56(3)
Journal Article

The author distinguishes holism and elementism in psychology and Asian religions. Individual Psychology and Buddhism are based upon holism in their understanding of the human mind. Both deny the concept of intrapsychic conflicts. While Buddhism applies holism to understanding the structure of the universe, individual Psychology recognizes conflicts between the individual and the world. To explain the notion of social interest, the concept of absolute holism, which regards the world as a whole without any conflict, is suggested.
